World Golf Hall of Fame member Phil Mickelson and major championship winner Jason Dufner are the latest highly ranked players on the Houston Open commitment list, announced tournament director Steve Timms.
Phil Mickelson is back for his 11th consecutive appearance at the Houston Open. A former Houston Open champion, Phil Mickelson is ranked No. 34 in the World Golf Rankings and has a staggering 42 total career victories, including five major championships. Ohio-born Jason Dufner is a five-time PGA TOUR champion, including the PGA Championship, and is making his fifth start at the Houston Open. Mickelson and Dufner are both in the Masters field the following week. Houston Open’s growing commitment list of top-ranked players includes defending champion Russell Henley, Australian native and 2014 Houston Open champion Matt Jones, Lee Westwood and multiple major championship winner Padraig Harrington.
Houston Open will be played the week of March 26-April 1 at the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course. Players have until March 23 (Friday before tournament week) to commit. They may also withdraw on or before that date with no penalty. Tickets and future player information will be available at houstonopen.org.
